Alcon, a division of Novartis, unveiled its latest advancement in the training and education of eye care professionals, the Alcon Experience Academy.

Alcon is also expanding its global support through the launch of its new online portal, AlconExperienceAcademy.com.

Created for use by professionals, nurses, technicians and students, the expansive online library boasts more than 500 training videos, a simple interface and more educational content added regularly, according to a press release from Alcon.

AlconExperienceAcademy.com will utilize real-world case studies that present the latest methods of treatment as well as personalized videos and webcasts by eye care professionals. Additional resources and content will be added in 2019 that specifically relate to optometry.

The six Alcon Experience Centers are located in Fort Worth, Texas; Barcelona, Spain; Tokyo and Osaka, Japan; Sydney, Australia; and Bogotá, Colombia. Two more facilities are being developed in São Paulo, Brazil, and Beijing, China. According to Alcon’s press release, each experience center will provide those who attend with face-to-face educators and offer eye care professionals the latest in eye health education. Accompanying the Alcon Experience Centers will be 26 training facilities and 42 wet labs.

In a statement from Alcon CEO, David Endicott, he praised the company’s dedication to continued education.

"Through our industry-leading educational resources, we are fully committed to providing best-in-class training to help shape the future of eye care and to provide opportunities for the best possible patient outcomes," he said.
