The CDC’s fifth annual Contact Lens Health Week, Aug. 20 to 24, will focus on patients’ health and safety with support from the Health Care Alliance for Patient Safety.

The alliance will focus on maintaining a strong doctor-patient relationship, including ensuring that regular, comprehensive eye exams are conducted and verifying prescription accuracy and validity with a patient’s doctors before distribution and proper lens care, according to a press release from the alliance.

The CDC has highlighted dangers of improper contact lens care and use in its information videos.

The alliance was founded earlier this year to advocate for patient safety and to protect and defend the doctor-patient relationship.
