Scott Hauswirth, OD, stressed the importance of examining the eyelids in ocular surface disease patients here at the Twin Cities Ocular Surface Disease Symposium.

They are crucial to tear film distribution, contain secretory glands important to the tear film, and contain vascular supply and neurosensory units that contribute to good ocular surface health, he said.
