VIDEO: How to choose an amniotic membrane

Two speakers here at the Twin Cities Ocular Surface Disease Symposium discussed the use of amniotic membranes in the treatment of ocular surface disease.

Nicholas Colatrella, OD, said clinicians can choose from either cryopreserved or dehydrated. Jeffrey Varanelli, OD, said the choice depends on the patient’s anatomy and clinical indication, deciding which will work best for the individual.

Disclosures: Colatrella reports he is a consultant for or has received honorarium from Allergan, Aril, BioD, Bio-Tissue, Katena and Shire. Varanelli reports no relevant financial disclosures.
