DENVER - Douglas Benoit, OD, executive director of professional affairs at Visioneering Technologies, discusses the National Academies of Practice, and its Optometry Academy, which strive to make a difference in patient care and access.
NAP was put together in 1981 to influence legislators to bring health care to more people for less cost, he said.
"NAP uses an interdisciplinary group to have an easier transferred patient experience, such as a diabetic patient who would need to go to an audiologist and PCP and/or endocrinologist – all of these are more easily accomplished if we get a better platform for delivery," Benoit said.
