Alcon has announced the launch of a new lubricant eye drop, Systane Complete, in collaboration with professional tennis superstar, Venus Williams.

According to the release, the drops were designed to “provide relief for every major type of dry eye” and may be a new treatment option for individuals with evaporative dry eye, aqueous tear-deficient dry eye or mixed dry eye.

The company explained that its collaboration with Venus Williams is an effort to launch an educational campaign to help those who suffer from dry eye. Williams will share her dry eye experience through multimedia assets, a website and a TV commercial.

Alcon expects Systane Complete to be available over-the-counter, nationwide, by June. The lubricant eye drops are currently available from select retail locations, e-commerce sites and optometrists’ and ophthalmologists’ offices.

“I spent years not understanding my dry eye symptoms and going through several different eye drops to find a solution," Williams said in the release. "Systane Complete is a total game changer for me, and that's why I'm so passionate about working with Alcon to help others understand their symptoms and find real relief. Systane Complete provides me with long-lasting, fast relief for my dry eye symptoms, allowing me to conquer my day both on and off the court."
