Allergan announced the official launch of TrueTear, an FDA-approved device developed to temporarily increase tear production during neurostimulation in adults.

TrueTear is a handheld neurostimulation device with disposable tips that is inserted into the nasal cavity to induce the production of natural tears, according to a press release from Allergan.

In two clinical trials, the device was shown to temporarily increase tear production in adults, according to the release.

The neurostimulation device was launched at ASCRS in Washington in mid-April.
