April is Sjögren’s Awareness Month, and the Sjögren’s Syndrome Foundation launched a new campaign, “30 Faces for Sjögren’s Awareness Month,” to bring attention to the autoimmune disease.
According to a statement from the foundation, about 4 million Americans live with Sjögren’s syndrome. While the disease is quite prevalent, it is not well-known, which can cause isolation for those living with it, as well as confusion surrounding the serious impact of Sjögren’s.
Throughout April, the Sjögren’s Syndrome Foundation (SFF) hopes to raise awareness by using the #ThisIsSjögrens hashtag to highlight 30 people with Sjögren’s syndrome and how it impacts their life. Additionally, SFF said it will use social media this month to educate the public about Sjögren’s syndrome.
“Together, we can shine a light on Sjögren’s to ensure greater awareness and understanding of this complicated disease,” foundation CEO Steven Taylor said in a statement from the company.
