VIDEO: MIGS options address different stages of glaucoma

NEW YORK – The three available minimally invasive glaucoma procedures have unique features that are suited for mild through severe glaucoma, Justin Schweitzer, OD, said here at Vision Expo East.

“The iStent (Glaukos) is great for mild to moderate glaucoma patients with a visually significant cataract looking to reduce dependence on medications,” Schweitzer said. The Cypass (Alcon), a supraciliary device, is effective for moderate glaucoma, and the Xen gel stent (Allergan) is good for patients with severe glaucoma, “who are maybe not quite ready for a tube shunt or trabeculectomy,” he said.
