EyeGuide to pitch concussion test at Super Bowl
Philadelphia-based startup, EyeGuide, makers of a medical device capable of detecting brain injuries will pitch its concussion management platform at 1st and Future, the NFL’s Super Bowl startup competition geared toward player safety.
1st and Future is an annual pitch competition that will take place at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis on Feb. 3, prior to the Super Bowl.
Nine startups will compete in three categories to present their game-changing technologies to an exclusive audience including former NFL players, entrepreneurs and medical experts, according to the 1st and Future website. The winning team from each category will receive a $50,000 check from the NFL and two tickets to Super Bowl LII.
In 10 seconds, EyeGuide Focus collects and visualizes data about potential neurological impairment, using eye movements to uncover their brain health.
“EyeGuide Focus was specifically designed to make baseline, post-injury and return-to-play testing quick, easy and accurate,” according to the company website. “You won’t spend 30 to 60 minutes testing one person: you’ll spend 10 seconds.”
EyeGuide is participating in the New Therapies to Speed Recovery category along with two other startups: Cartilage Repair Systems (New York) and RecoverX (Mountain View, Calif.). Together, NBC Sports Ventures, Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs for entrepreneurs and SportsEngine will administer the competition.
The NFL teamed up with Comcast NBC Universal and Mayo Clinic for this year’s competition.
