CooperVision introduced MyDay toric daily disposable contact lenses, which combine the design features of the Biofinity toric with “smart silicone” chemistry.
The lenses are the newest addition to CooperVision’s premium silicone hydrogel 1-day lens family, according to a press release from the company.
MyDay toric features optimized toric lens geometry found in Biofinity toric, which provides uniform horizontal ISO thickness, an optimized ballast band design, large toric optic zone and a smooth, continuous surface for an easy fit, according to CooperVision.
Smart silicone chemistry is an innovative technology that delivers the best of both hydrogel and silicone hydrogel lenses, the company said.
The design optimizes oxygen permeability in a lens that is only 4.4% silicone. By using less silicone, the technology leaves more room in the lens for hydrophilic material, for improved surface wettability, higher water content and lower modulus for a softer, more comfortable lens-wearing experience, according to the release.
MyDay toric lenses are currently available in sphere powers from plano to -6.00 D (0.25-D steps), and -6.00 D to -10.00 D (0.50-D steps), with cylinder options of -0.75 D, -1.25 D, and -1.75 D in axes of 10°, 20°, 70°, 80°, 90°, 100°, 110°, 160°, 170° and 180° and -2.25 in axes of 10°, 20°, 90°, 160°, 170° and 180°. Plus powers will be added soon, according to the release.
MyDay toric lenses have a base curve of 8.6 mm and a diameter of 14.5 mm.
