CooperVision announced that Avaira Vitality, a 2-week toric contact lens, is now available in plus powers, high minus powers and a -2.25-D cylinder.

The company has begun an initial rollout, and the full range will be available across the U.S. in January 2018, CooperVision said in a press release.

The Avaira Vitality toric is made from a new silicone hydrogel material, fanfilcon A, with a 55% water content and high level of oxygen permeability and transmissibility, the company stated. The lens also blocks more than 90% of UVA and 99% of UVB rays.

The Vitality toric utilizes CooperVision’s Optimized Toric Lens Geometry and has a uniform horizontal ISO thickness that improves lens stability and reduces rotation, according to the release. The large optic zone provides clear vision, and an optimized ballast toric design provides a stable, comfortable fit.

“Through our partnerships with eye care providers, we have repeatedly heard that there is still a place for 2-week contact lenses in today’s practices,” Michele Andrews, OD, senior director of professional and academic affairs, North America, CooperVision, said in the release.

The complete power range of Avaira Vitality toric is +8.00 D to -10.00 D, with cylinder options of -0.75 D, -1.25 D, -1.75 D and -2.25 D in axes from 10° to 180° in 10° steps. The lenses have a Dk/t of 90, the base curve is 8.5 mm, and the diameter is 14.5 mm.
