J&J launches monthly contact lens for astigmatism

Johnson & Johnson Vision is expanding its Acuvue Vita brand of contact lenses to include a new line of lenses for astigmatism.

The new lenses have Blink Stabilized design, which helps keep the lens in place, and a noncoated silicone hydrogel formulation to help maintain hydration for the entire month, according to a press release from the company.

With these features, in a clinical study, 75% of wearers reported crisp and stable vision.

“It’s important that when eye care professionals prescribe a monthly contact lens for their astigmatic patients, they can be confident that the lens provides consistent, clear, stable vision and exceptional comfort for a full month of wear — not just for the first week or two, Cristina Schnider, OD, director of global professional affairs for Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, said in the release.
