Optovue debuted an optical coherence tomographer with angiography specifically for optometry and general ophthalmology at Vision Expo West.
The AngioVue Essential offers high-resolution, noninvasive imaging of retinal vasculature to help clinicians visualize ocular disease, the company said in a press release. The new OCT-A feature offers a single-page report that displays OCT B-scans and individual layers of retinal vasculature. The system offers the addition of ocular health screening to a basic eye exam.
Optovue also announced that its iWellness scan will be added to the Avanti System, an OCT imaging platform. Dubbed Avanti Wellness, the combination allows optometrists to identify the signs of retinal and nerve fiber disease through an easy-to-read report of retinal thickness and ganglion cell complex thickness.
“Together, our new AngioVue Essential and Avanti Wellness strengthen our product offerings for both optometry and general ophthalmology practices,” Judy Bartlett-Roberto, vice president of marketing for Optovue, said in the release. “We are committed to making our groundbreaking OCT-A technology available to all practice settings so clinicians can access accurate and detailed information about the patient’s ocular health, thereby improving their diagnostic capabilities and patient management.”
