LAS VEGAS – LensFerry, a contact ordering service, now allows eye care professionals to integrate electronic health records into the solution, according to a press release from EyeCare Prime.

Using LensFerry, contact wearers can order their prescribed lens at any time, including text-to-order and online systems. The EHR integration allows for streamlining the ordering process for both wearers and practitioners.

“The new data sync functionality saves staff a significant amount of time, making LensFerry easier to use than ever before,” Mark Lindsey, global general manager of EyeCare Prime, a subsidiary of CooperVision, said in the release. “LensFerry provides practices with automatic multichannel selling capabilities so practices can drive lens sales even when their store isn’t open for business. Patients can order their contact lenses directly from their eye care practice with just a few clicks — any time of day, any day of the week — and the lenses are delivered right to their homes.”

The software allows prescribers to receive the sales revenue as if the lenses were ordered in-office, while providing convenience to the patients.

Mike McDougall, speaking on behalf of CooperVision at Vision Expo West, told Primary Care Optometry News that LensFerry is now integrated with Revolution EHR, OfficeMate and Crystal, to name a few systems.

“It’s an easier way to retain lens revenue,” McDougall said. “And it’s not just for CooperVision lenses.” – by Cassie Homer and Nancy Hemphill, ELS, FAAO
