Nidek launches tabletop refraction system

Nidek Co. has launched a new tabletop subjective refraction system in the U.S., the company announced.

The TS-310 integrates the chart and refractor into a single unit, reducing the instrument’s footprint, according to a press release from Nidek.

The system includes a 5.7-inch color LCD touch screen control box, a refractor and chart unit all in an ergonomic, compact design.

The same high-resolution charts are used for both far and near testing, allowing for visual acuity at 5 m and near visual acuity at 40 cm to be measured with the same accuracy as actual distances, according to the release.

Eye care professionals can easily switch from near and far testing and, without a refractor pole, the system can be used from both the right and left side of the patient.

Nidek said the TS-310 can be installed by any staff member because it does not require complex angle and distance adjustments.
