Lighthouse Guild encourages eye exams during awareness month
Lighthouse Guild is reaching out to consumers for National Eye Exam Month to encourage them to get regular eye exams.
“Early detection and treatment of visual impairment is the key to better eye health,” Andrea Zimmerman, OD, FAAO, a low vision specialist at Lighthouse Guild said in a release from the guild. “Undiagnosed and untreated visual impairment can lead to permanent vision loss. Regular eye exams are important for adults and children of all ages.”
The Lighthouse Guild is reminding consumers that eye exams are important to correct prescriptions, to detect health problems, to identify eye disorders, to maximize school performance and to treat headaches.
“Vision is key to physical, mental and social well-being. Whether you are 5 or 95, taking care of your eyes should be a top priority,” Zimmerman said.
