Essilor, Luxottica move through antitrust clearance

Essilor and Luxottica are continuing their proposed combination with the antitrust process advancing in all jurisdictions, according to a joint press release.

In the U.S. and Canada, Essilor and Luxottica have filed with the antitrust authorities, and the investigation has entered the secondary request phase.

The companies have also filed in Brazil.

In China, the proposed combination is under MOFCOM’s review, and a decision is expected soon.

Essilor and Luxottica are engaging in a dialogue with the European Commission in a pre-notification phase. They expect to formally notify the transaction in the coming weeks, they said in the release.

The companies have already received clearance in Russia and India and are in discussion with the antitrust authorities in all other relevant jurisdictions.

Essilor and Luxottica aim to close the antitrust process at the end of 2017.
