Representatives from Johnson & Johnson Vision and the American Optometric Association met with Maureen Ohlhausen, acting chairwoman of the Federal Trade Commission, as part of the Coalition for Patient Vision Safety to discuss proposed changes to the Contact Lens Rule, according to a statement from Johnson & Johnson.
Brian Schwam, MD, and Carol Alexander, OD, from Johnson & Johnson Vision, joined the meeting to bring concerns from ophthalmological and optometric perspectives about the proposed changes.
The meeting with Ohlhausen is part of the Coalition for Patient Vision Safety’s goal to modernize communication between prescribers and sellers.
This meeting comes after nearly 2,500 comments, primarily from eye care providers, were submitted to the FTC about the proposed changes to the Contact Lens Rule.
