Presenter: Treat the person behind the dry eyes
NEW YORK – Patients with dry eye run the gamut in their acceptance of the disease, ranging from those who deny they have it to those who let it keep them awake at night, Richard Adler, MD, said here at Vision Expo East.
“We see that both extremes flourish in dry eye because it’s more ambiguous,” he said. “One of the best solutions for managing this psychology is to do a better job of explaining it and use objective tests to validate it. In that way you can manage both the eye and the mind.”
