American Optometric Student Association elects new board
The American Optometric Student Association has elected Andy Mackner as the organization’s 50th president.
Mackner is a third-year optometry student at Pacific University College of Optometry and chairs the American Optometric Student Association’s (AOSA’s) advocacy committee.
In addition to electing a new president, the AOSA also elected Melissa Zaleski of Nova Southeastern University to be the next vice president, Jodi Baker of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry to be the next secretary and Jon Beeson of Inter American University of Puerto Rico to be the next treasurer.
A national liaison to the Ocular Nutrition Society was approved by the AOSA board as a response to increased interest in dietary influences on eye health.
