Consider off-label uses for ocular agents
BOSTON – Do not limit your treatment decisions by approved indications, Marc R. Bloomenstein, OD, said here at Optometry’s Meeting.
He gave examples of using contact lenses as bandages, fluoroquinolones for ulcers, Advil for ocular inflammation (uveitis or iritis), Restasis (cyclosporine ophthalmic emulsion 0.05%, Allergan) for inflammation and diluted brimonidine as a whitening agent.
