New Optovue imager combines OCT, angiography

Optovue announced the immediate availability of its AngioVue Retina imaging system.
The proprietary system was designed to be a noninvasive, dyeless option for retinal imaging, according to a press release from the company. It is configured with features for both OCT and OCT angiography (OCTA).
“By adding AngioVue Retina to our product portfolio, we are able to help retinal physicians acquire OCTA technology in a cost-efficient manner, thereby adding this technology to their armamentarium of diagnostic imaging tools,” John Hawley, senior vice president of global sales for Optovue, said in the release. “OCTA imaging is in its nascent phase, and we expect applications to rapidly unfold over the next few years.”
Optovue also announced the availability of its DualTrac Motion Correction for use with both the AngioVue and AngioVue Retina systems. It is designed to assist patients who have trouble directing their focus on a central point during an eye exam.
The DualTrac has a two-level combined approach for motion correction. First, it provides real-time correction for rapid eye movements, blinking or eye drifting. Then, during imaging post-processing, it will correct smaller levels of motion distortion.
