VIDEO: Majority of patients with meibomian gland atrophy experience no symptoms

SEATTLE – Aubrey Schachter, MS, and colleagues found that 60% of patients in their study who had some degree of meibomian gland atrophy as evidenced by the Oculus Keratograph were asymptomatic.

She told Primary Care Optometry News here at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meeting that clinicians should use these images of the meibomian glands to educate patients on the importance of early treatment intervention.
