Optometry Giving Sight reaches million-dollar donation goal
Optometry Giving Sight announced at the recent Vision Source Exchange meeting in San Antonio that the Vision Source Million Dollar Campaign has reached its target, according to a press release from the organization.
The campaign was initiated in 2014 in an effort to support Optometry Giving Sight’s (OGS’s) international projects, particularly a proposed new school of optometry in Haiti, by increasing available funds.
OGS also recognized its loyal supporters at the meeting, naming 59 individuals and practices the “2016 Philanthropists of the Year” for their 10 years of continued monthly support through the Circle of Sight program.
Ted McElroy, OD, SECO president and president and CEO of Vision Source Tifton in Georgia, was given the Practice of the Year award, for long-term support of OGS. Thomas Quinn, OD, and Susan Quinn, OD, of Quinn Foster & Associates in Ohio, were given the World Sight Day Challenge Achievement Award, to recognize their staff’s commitment to the challenge since 2007, according to the release.
“It’s been an incredible effort that has involved all our monthly donors, the Member Support Center teams who raised close to $300,000 as part of the World Sight Day Challenge, key sponsors such as Essilor, CooperVision and Bausch + Lomb, and all the practices who participate in the I Care & Share program, World Sight Day Challenge, Chairman’s Club, Mobile Eye Unit campaign or who have made individual gifts,” Clive Miller, OGS CEO, said in the release. “We thank them all sincerely for their support.”
