X-Cel offers daily disposable contacts in three diameter options

X-Cel Specialty Contacts announced a new lens, Extreme H20 Daily, a 1-day disposable contact lens available in three diameter options, according to a press release from the company.

Extreme H20 Daily, available in 13.6 mm, 14.2 mm and 14.8 mm, can help optimize the fit, according to the company.

X-Cel vice president and general manager, Derrell James, stated that the 13.6-mm lens is a perfect solution for patients with smaller corneas or lid apertures, and the 14.8 mm should be a go-to lens for patients with active lifestyles, according to the release. The 14.8-mm diameter is more stable on the eye and less likely to decenter or fall out during activities, he said.

HVID measurements are taken with a slide ruler, which can be used by a technician and adds minimal time to the exam, according to the release.

Extreme H2O Daily is made with hioxifilcon A, a nonionic ultra-hydrating material that retains 99% of its water content throughout the wearing time, according to the company.

The 13.6-mm diameter has a base curve of 8.2, the 14.2-mm diameter lens has a base curve of 8.5, and the 14.8-mm lens has a base curve of 8.7. Available parameters in all diameters are: +0.50 D to +6.00 D and -0.50 D to -10.00 D (0.50-D steps after -6.00 D).
