CooperVision announced its limited introduction of Biofinity XR toric contact lenses in a company press release.

The product is a silicone hydrogel lens uniquely designed for patients with prescriptions beyond the traditional stock range, according to the release. A select few hundred accounts will have access to the lenses during the limited rollout period, followed by a broader rollout set to begin in April.

“With our commitment to developing and manufacturing these unique lenses ... eye care practitioners can fit a greater number of patients in silicone hydrogels, keeping pace with the widespread move to this healthier material. It is part of our commitment to help improve the way people see each day,” Jerry Warner, president of CooperVision North America, said in the release.

The product’s design also features a uniform horizontal ISO thickness and optimized ballast band. It has an optimized, continuous surface and uses Aquaform technology to allow more oxygen to reach the eyes, according to the release.
