WCO publications highlight optometry’s role in global eye care

The World Council of Optometry announced the publication of Why Optometry and A Global Competency Based Model of the Scope of Practice in Optometry in a press release.

The documents describe the role, composition and contribution of optometry in its various forms throughout the world, according to the release from the World Council of Optometry (WCO).

The publications help highlight the contribution optometry can make in eliminating avoidable blindness and visual impairment, in addition to aiding in advocacy to expand the presence and scope of practice in optometric eye care, according to the organization.
