Independent Doctors of Optometric Care, an alliance of independent optometrists, acquired consulting firm and alliance Prima Eye Group.
Independent Doctors of Optometric Care (IDOC) encompasses 3,100 member optometrists in the U.S., according to a joint press release.
During a phased integration period in 2016, the two companies will operate separately, each maintaining their separate headquarters, according to the release. Optometrist-members will be informed during the transition period about the various offerings of the alliance.
Current IDOC CEO Dave Brown will serve as president and CEO, and the senior management team will include Oliver Spandow, current chief financial officer of IDOC, and Neil Gailmard, OD, co-founder, president and chief operating officer of Prima, both reporting to Brown. Gailmard will serve as chief optometric officer of IDOC and will continue as president of Prima Eye Group, the release said.
According to the company, Jerry Hayes, OD, co-founder and CEO of Prima, will retire from the company effective June 30. IDOC founder and chairman Mark Feder, OD, will step down from his current role and continue as an advisor to the senior management team.
