The National Association of Vision Care Plans announced a fast-track credentialing process to reduce the cost and time required for eye care professionals to manage credentialing with the vision care plans they provide, according to a press release.

Ten managed care plans have agreed to participate thus far: AlwaysCare, Davis Vision, EyeMed, eyeQuest, MESVision, National Vision, Superior Vision, UnitedHealthcare/Spectera Eyecare Networks, Vision Benefits of America and VSP Vision Care.

“This simplified process represents a great milestone for the vision industry and eye care providers who will no longer be burdened by the amount of time and administrative costs associated with managing multiple credentialing requests,” Aspasia Shappet, CEO of MESVision and chairwoman of NAVCP, said in the release.

NAVCP partnered with Aperture Credentialing LLC to manage the credentialing process.

Beginning in December 2015, providers who need to recredential with a vision plan will receive a letter from Aperture Credentialing about the new process.
