Eye care community supports World Sight Day Challenge

Various eye care networks and companies have joined a coalition that will support Optometry Giving Sight and its annual World Sight Day Challenge, according to a press release issued by the organization.

The coalition includes ABB Optical Group, Alcon, Allergan, AllAboutVision.com, CooperVision, Essilor, Oasis Medical, Optos, SynergEyes, Vision Source, VSP Global, ZeaVision and Zeiss. The Wyanoke Group, publisher of Primary Care Optometry News, will join these companies in participating in the annual fundraising event.

The World Sight Day Challenge is now a major event within the global optometric community, and it’s a great way to engage with staff, customers and colleagues to help provide eye care for all,” Clive Miller, CEO of Optometry Giving Sight, said in the release. “We are grateful for the support that we receive and encourage all eye and vision care companies, networks and practices to take the challenge and make a donation so that we can help end avoidable blindness and give sight and hope to the millions of people in need.”

Companies and networks are conducting fundraising efforts, events and social media campaigns in an effort to raise money for the World Sight Day Challenge, raise awareness of eye health importance and provide eye care, the release stated.
