Vision Council holds legislative, regulatory meetings
The Vision Council recently held its annual Government and Regulatory Affairs Capitol Hill Fly-In, in which member companies and elected officials spend a day discussing various regulatory and legislative issues.
Member companies included Zeiss, Charmant USA, Expert Optical, Transitions Optical, ClearVision Optical, Vision-Ease Lens, Enso Eyewear, WalMart and Hoya, according to a press release from the council. Twenty senators and representatives and their offices participated.
Meetings focused on the pediatric essential vision benefit of the Affordable Care Act; HR 1185, which would increase Flexible Spending Account limits to $5,000; and FDA applications that were filed for Unique Device Identified exemption under Class 1 medical devices, according to the release.
“As the representative of the manufacturers and suppliers of the optical industry, our members need and expect the Vision Council to give a voice to their concerns on Capitol Hill,” Mike Daley, CEO of the Vision Council, said in the release. “Our annual Government and Regulatory Affairs Capitol Hill Fly-In allows us to bring together key members of Congress with representatives from our member organizations to shine light on the latest issues affecting the industry and ensure the best possible outcomes for the future of our members.”
