ATLANTA – ZeaVision introduced its next generation of QuantifEye MPS II for measuring macular pigment optical density at a press conference here at SECO.

The original QuantifEye was available in 2006 and has measured macular pigment optical density more than 4 million eyes, according to company literature.

ZeaVision’s Mike Doll told Primary Care Optometry News that the new software will integrate with electronic health records and provide trend analysis reports for patient measurements. The new system is available with a laptop or tablet to save space.

The company also introduced EyePromise DVS – a new ocular supplement with diabetes vision support.

Doll said the supplement is designed to improve the integrity of blood vessels from the inside out. In a study led by A. Paul Chous, OD, EyePromise DVS reduced C-reactive proteins by 60% and diabetic peripheral neuropathy pain by 50%; increased macular pigment optical density; and improved color vision and contrast sensitivity. It did not change A1C or blood glucose levels, he said. – by Nancy Hemphill, ELS, FAAO
