Marty Bassett of Walman Optical was elected as the new chairman of the board at the recent Vision Council executive summit.

Bassett outlined his priorities for his term, which include strengthening the International Vision Expos and stimulating market growth, according to a press release from the Vision Council.

The group also reported that Mike Hundert of REM Eyewear is its new vice chairman, Ken Bradley of Eschenbach Optik of America is secretary/treasurer, and Raanan Naftalovich of Shamir Insight Inc. is immediate past chairman.

The council elected Bob Colucci of Essilor, Glenn Rusk of Safilo and Holly Rush of Luxottica each to an initial 2-year term and John Corsini of Super Systems Optical to a second 2-year term.

“A key initiative of the Vision Council will continue to be engagement in activities and programs that promote the growth of the market, such as the Think About Your Eyes campaign,” Basset said in the release. “This campaign is designed to stimulate market growth by driving awareness for the importance of annual eye exams and has proven to dramatically increase the number of new patients receiving first-time eye exams, as well as decrease the amount of time between eye exams for existing patients.”
