JJVC program screens 20 million children

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Companies announced that Sight for Kids, its partnership program with the Lions Club International Foundation, has provided free, volunteer-directed vision screenings to 20 million children, according to a press release.

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care (JJVC) said it will increase its impact by providing funding for Sight for Kids to expand into Greater Nairobi, Kenya, and Ankara, Turkey. These will be the first two countries to receive Sight for Kids services in Africa and Europe.

“As our worldwide footprint grows, we know that the Sight for Kids model works and has made a significant impact on children in underserved communities," Robert Hollin, Worldwide President, Johnson & Johnson Medical Ltd., said in the press release. "Many of these children see clearly for the first time and. in turn, have the opportunity to reach their full potential."

According to the press release, Sight for Kids is one of the longest running and largest public-private vision-screening programs in the world. The program has grown by nearly 1.8 million children screened per year since its launch in 2002.
