Optometry Giving Sight announced that optometry students across North America are raising funds for the World Sight Day Challenge.
The “Student Challenge” began in 2008 and has raised more than $125,000, according to a press release from the organization.
This year, 28 pre-optometry and optometry schools are taking part.
Optometry Giving Sight highlighted fundraising efforts such as Nova Southeastern University’s Cycling for Sight event and Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Optometry’s Student Challenge 5K and fun run.
Optometry Giving Sight explained that each year Student Challenge leaders get more creative and rise to the challenge in new ways.
VOSH International will sponsor the award of the three travel stipends again this year. The stipends are awarded to the schools that raise the most total donations and the highest average donation per optometry student.
