Alphaeon Corp. announced it has acquired Physician Recommended Nutriceuticals in a transaction worth up to $55 million.

Physician Recommended Nutriceuticals (PRN) currently has a patent-pending dry eye formula, Dry Eye Omega Benefits, which Alphaeon plans to offer.

According to the release, in a dry eye clinical study, 82% of patients who took PRN’s re-esterified triglyceride omega-3 product for an 8-week period had a positive change in the composition of their meibum.

Alphaeon will begin offering the omega-3 products on Aug. 1, the company said in the release.
