ASCO re-elects Coyle as president
Jennifer Coyle, OD, MS, FAAO, has been elected president of the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry for a second term, according to a recent press release from ASCO.
Coyle (formerly Smythe) is the dean of the Pacific University College of Optometry and the first female president of ASCO.
According to a previous Primary Care Optometry News article, Coyle is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry, a diplomat in the Section on Cornea and Contact Lenses and a member of the PCON Editorial Board.
As noted in the release, Coyle's term will finish on June 30, 2015.
Additionally, ASCO reported other officers that had been elected to the Board of Directors. Richard Phillips, OD, FAAO, president of Southern College of Optometry, is now president-elect of ASCO. David Heath, OD, EdM, FAAO, president of the State University of New York, State College of Optometry, is now ASCO’s immediate past-president. Joseph A. Bonanno, OD, PhD, FAAO, dean of Indiana University School of Optometry, is now secretary-treasurer. Elizabeth Hoppe, OD, MPH, DrPH, FAAO, founding dean of Western University of Health Sciences, is an at-large member of ASCO’s board.
