Sattler to retire from Alcon

Effective Aug. 2, Dave Sattler, FAAO, will retire from Alcon, the company recently announced in a press release.

Sattler has spent 28 years with Alcon; his most recent position has been leading academic development for U.S. Vision Care as director of professional relations.

“I have had 28 great years with Alcon, but I am most proud of the eye care now being provided to the local underserved patient population through the establishment of the Fort Worth Community Eye Clinic,” Sattler said in the release. “This program brings together our local city government, optometry schools and Alcon to make a real difference in patients’ lives.”

As detailed in the release, Sattler began his career with Alcon in 1986 as a sales representative.

“Dave Sattler’s impressive 28-year career has helped Alcon in its mission to enhance quality of life by helping people see better,” Jim Murphy, vice president and general manager of U.S. Vision Care, said in the release. “His most recent work with the optometry schools and colleges has positively impacted the profession and countless individual eye care professionals.”

Alcon noted in the release that Tom Duchardt will take over for Sattler in overseeing academic development initiatives.
