Google Glass, Luxottica partner to create a new collection of eye wear

Luxottica announced a partnership with Google to develop and engineer Glass products with high-fashion brands such as Ray-Ban and Oakley.

“We believe it is high time to combine the unique expertise, deep knowledge and quality of our group with the cutting edge technology expertise of Google and give birth to a new generation of revolutionary devices,” Luxottica CEO Andrea Guerra said in the release.

The release stated that Ray-Ban’s and Oakley’s wearable technology has evolved from MP3 to HUD devices over the past 10 years.

According to the press release, the first collection from the Luxottica and Google partnership will match high-end technology with a revolutionary design.

“These forward-thinking devices will be the result of a new and unique strategic approach reflecting attention to detail, uncompromising quality and technology nurtured in the global market,” the company stated in the release.
