The American Optometric Association’s for-profit subsidiary, AOAExcel Inc., has finalized the sale of OcuHub to a wholly-owned subsidiary of TearLab Corp.

OcuHub is a high-tech platform to provide doctors with a specialized link to health information exchanges, according to the press release.

This $1.4 million transaction places OcuHub one step closer to being marketed to optometry practices nationwide, according to the press release.

The release explained that subscription-based OcuHub is designed to be fully HIPAA-complaint and seeks to securely connect doctors, patients, institutions and payers and includes features such as electronic medical records, image management and storage, practice management tools and marketing programs.
