Alden Optical announced in a press release that it acquired Fluoresoft 0.35% fluorescent solution from Holles Laboratories Inc.

The solution is available in the U.S. and is used by specialty contact lens practitioners to evaluate the cornea-to-lens fitting relationship.

The press release stated that the molecular weight compound prevents absorption by soft lens materials, which prevents lens staining. It is also used to assess epithelial abnormalities caused by contact lens wear and during applanation tonometry.

“Fluoresoft is an important diagnostic tool for many specialty lens fitters, and we are eager to work with these fitters toward great patient outcomes” Alden President Tom Shone said.
