Poll shows employees unaware of impact of health care reform on vision coverage

According to the annual Employee Perceptions of Vision Benefits survey, conducted in November 2013 and sponsored by Transitions Optical, nearly six out of 10 employees say they do not know how health care reform will affect their vision insurance.

Smith Wyckoff, key account manager, managed care/online retail, Transitions Optical said in a Transitions press release, “…the fact that this lack of knowledge is translating into concern is something worth addressing, as vision plans and employers have the opportunity to enhance their relationships with employees by keeping them informed and alleviating their fears.”

According to the survey, employee concerns range from cost increases to having different vision coverage than their children, to fears that they will not understand how to get coverage or reimbursement.

Employees surveyed stated they expect their human resources department, eye care professional and their current vision insurance carrier to be knowledgeable of the changes.
