LAS VEGAS – Shamir announced the release of Shamir Computer and Shamir WorkSpace at a press conference here at Vision Expo West. The lenses are “designed to provide patients with the perfect visual solution for their occupational environment and daily tasks,” according to a company press release.

Shamir Computer is designed to provide a wide field of near viewing with clear vision up to 5 feet, the press release said. It is intended for patients who spend most of their time at a computer and at their work station during the day.

Shamir WorkSpace offers both mid-distance and near viewing, according to Shamir. With a depth of field of up to 10 feet, WorkSpace is intended for those who move around their workplace throughout the day.

These two lens designs use the Shamir technologies Natural Posture and IntelliCorridor. The Natural Posture technology allows presbyopes to view their computer or look across the room without adjusting their posture. With IntelliCorridor, Shamir designers can control the power profile of the lens based on the needs of the individual wearer.

Practitioners may begin ordering these new lenses Oct. 7, according to the press release. They are available in a 14-mm fitting height in 1.5 hard resin, DLC Trivex, 1.56, 1.58 polycarbonate and SuperLite 1.60.
