Vision Equip introduces electrophysiological diagnostic system

SAN DIEGO – Vision Equip announced its release of a new system for visual, electrophysiological diagnostics at Optometry’s Meeting. The new Reti-port/scan21 consists of a two-channel amplifier, standard and enhanced software, preset standard values, Ganzfeld and Stimulator monitor.

The RETI port/scan 21 offers five visual function tests – visual evoked potential (VEP), ERG, pattern ERG (PERG), EOG and mfERG – that detect a variety of diseases.

The Ganzfeld ERG scotopic is used to detect retinitis pigmentosa and congenital stationary night blindness, the Ganzfeld ERG photopic/flicker is used in cone dystrophy, the Oscillating Potentials is used in diabetic retinopathy, the EOG detects Best’s disease, the pattern ERG is used glaucoma, and the VEP is effective with optic neuritis and multiple sclerosis.

Chuck Pritchard, Vision Equip vice president of sales, told Primary Care Optometry News that the instrument has had U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval but is just now being marketed to optometrists. It has been installed in more than 2,500 hospitals, research centers and doctor’s offices, he said.
