SAN DIEGO – Transitions Optical Inc. announced here at Optometry’s Meeting that information on adaptive lens technology is now available on the company’s Facebook page under a table titled, “Tech Talk.”
Nearly 80% of eye care professionals involved in dispensing photochromic lenses want to know more about the technical aspects of these lenses, according to results of a survey sponsored by Transitions Optical Inc. Additionally, approximately 40% of respondents revealed that they are not confident in their understanding of how photochromic lenses work.
The “Tech Talk” tab features researchers responding to frequently asked questions concerning adaptive lens technology. The tab also includes technical papers and a question-and-answer section that allows visitors to ask a question directly to the experts.
Transitions also presented new multicultural research findings at Optometry’s Meeting. The survey of 2,600 Americans explored perceptions of eye care professionals and the eye care experience among the general population, specifically in relation to race and ethnic diversity.
Survey responses confirmed that the majority of Americans prefer professionals who take steps to promote cultural competency. For example, hiring a diverse staff and using bilingual or in-language materials will generally make patients trust their eye care professional.
