Vistakon Division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Inc. announced that 1-Day Acuvue TruEye brand contact lenses (narafilcon A), a silicone hydrogel daily disposable lens, has been made available to U.S. eye care professionals, according to a company press release.

The narafilcon A lenses will phase out the narafilcon B 1-Day Acuvue TruEye lenses that have been available in the U.S. since 2010, according to the release.

“Our aim is to quickly transition to 1-Day Acuvue TruEye (narafilcon A), and we will provide doctors with a number of tools to help smooth the conversion process for eye care professionals and patients,” Dave Brown, Vistakon president, said in the release. “We are confident that 1-Day Acuvue TruEye (narafilcon A) will help doctors make more patients happy and drive additional patient referrals.”

Though the majority of the materials of both A and B products are similar, one key difference between them is that the A product is available in two base curves, 8.5 and 9.0, allowing more patients to be fit with the lens, the release said.

Narafilcon A lenses also have a DK/t of 118 for increased oxygen transmissibility with virtually no impact to modulus, it said.

1-Day Acuvue TruEye (narafilcon A) will only be available in 90-packs, due to research suggesting wearers tend to only buy 90-packs, according to the release.
