Optovue releases normative database, low-cost fundus camera

ATLANTA – Optovue announced here at SECO that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved it normative database for the iVue spectral domain ocular coherence tomographer and also that the iCam fundus camera is now available.

Larry Alexander, OD, FAAO, speaking on behalf of Optovue, told Primary Care Optometry News that the software for the normative database will be shipped soon, free of charge, to existing iVue SD-OCT customers and will be included with new purchases.

“As of today, Optovue is taking orders for the iCam, a 45-degree fundus camera with an LED flash and high-grade photos,” Alexander added.

He told PCON that Optovue’s iFusion, which is not yet FDA approved, will have the iCam and the iVue on the same table, sharing a computer.

“It will fuse the SD-OCT image right onto the fundus photo,” Alexander said. “The more information doctors have from the exam, the better off they’ll be.”
