PRIMARY CARE OPTOMETRY NEWS reporters will be on-site at Academy 2012 in Phoenix, attending and reporting on the papers, posters and symposia presented at the 5-day meeting.

Pre-meeting coverage on Wednesday will start with the highlights from Tuesday’s Optometric Council on Refractive Technology meeting and the joint meeting of the Ocular Nutrition and Optometric Retina Societies.

Optometric research in the form of papers and posters will be presented and covered the rest of the week, along with three PCON-sponsored educational symposia.

David L. Geffen, OD, and PCON Editorial Board member Paul M. Karpecki, OD, FAAO, will discuss new and future eye care technologies in “New Technology Rapid-Fire Session,” on Thursday.

PCON Editorial Board member Jerome Sherman, OD, FAAO, will highlight multispectral imaging, panoramic autofluorescence and new uses for OCT in “Exploring the Globe With Technologies that Image a Mile Wide and a Mile Deep” on Friday.

Board members Ron Melton, OD, FAAO, and Randall K. Thomas, OD, MPH, FAAO, will address advances in therapeutic options for acute and chronic diseases in “Current Trends in Medical Management” on Saturday.
