The Argentinean government recognized the profession of optometry in September, according to the World Council of Optometry.

La Plata University has offered a 5-year degree program in ocular optics and optometry for the past 11 years. The university has been campaigning to have the Argentina Ministry of Education recognize the qualification, according to WCO.

Seven classes have already graduated from the university’s degree program.
